Board the Reef Rocket—a sleek, high-speed catamaran—and revel in the ride to spectacular Green Island, the only coral cay in the Great Barrier Reef with a rainforest. On the way, listen as your expert guide goes over a snorkeling demonstration and provides information about the marine habitat.
Upon arrival, pull on your flippers and snorkel among the mosaic of ocean life below the crystal-clear waters of the cay, gliding by schools of sapphire damselfish, electric-colored anemones, and even majestic sea turtles. For an equally stunning experience, hop aboard the glass-bottom boat to peek into the spectacular underwater marine universe of neon-colored parrot fish and colonies of bottlebrush coral—all while staying dry.
Back on the mainland, travel by coach to the Barron River. Tune in to a safety briefing, then buckle your life jacket and clutch your oar as you tackle the grade-3 rapids heading downriver.
