Jumpstart your morning as you board the modern, high-speed catamaran, Reef Rocket. Grab a sunny seat and set sail for Green Island, the only coral cay in the Great Barrier Reef containing a rainforest. Upon arrival, squeeze the warm, soft sand between your toes, and start scoping out the local marine inhabitants.
Be it by glass-bottomed boat, or while strapped into a snorkel mask, the world’s largest reef system is on full display for you. Marvel at an abundance of under-the-sea action—from colonies of colorful fish, to starfish and seahorses—and if you’re lucky, spot a family of shy sea turtles floating by.
In the afternoon, climb into a gondola and glide through the air above a World Heritage-listed rainforest canopy. Peer down over emerald trees, vibrant spurts of flora, and the expansive Cairns Highlands. When you reach picturesque Kuranda, enjoy some downtime perusing its quaint shops. Then hop aboard the Kuranda Scenic Railway and soak up the breathtaking scenes of tumbling waterfalls and steep ravines on your journey back to Cairns.
