Description:

Set out to explore the town of Tigre—named for the jaguars hunted on this island by the area’s first settlers—with a scenic cruise on a vintage mahogany river boat. Take in the town’s marinas and elegant Belle Epoque mansions, and enjoy a taste of Argentine cuisine with a riverfront lunch.

After being picked up at your hotel, ride down the Avenida Libretador—the longest road in Buenos Aires at 16 miles (25 km) in length—on your way to Tigre, a town on an island formed by streams and rivers in the Parana Delta that is experiencing a robust revival of its one-time bohemian glory.

Step aboard a handsome wooden boat for a scenic ride along the waterfront as your guide shares information on the river-dependent lifestyle of the area's inhabitants, known as isleños. Admire the turn-of-the-century splendor of the palatial Tigre Art Museum, see pedestrians strolling down waterfront walkways along the Rio Lujan, and check out the British-influenced architecture in the area’s Victorian and Tudor revival homes.
