Description:

Spend a day exploring the history, wildlife, and stunning natural scenery of Barbados with visits to famous beaches, centuries-old plantation buildings, and a zoo-like animal reserve.

Begin your tour with a stroll in Hunte's Gardens, a picturesque trail through a series of mini-gardens nestled in a rainforest gully. After admiring the tropical flowers, head to Bathsheba. Named for the wife of King David, who reportedly bathed in milk to keep her skin soft, Bathsheba's mineral-rich pools are said to have similar soothing and beautifying effects.

Further up the coast, stop at Cattlewash to enjoy lunch above the crashing surf and rugged coastline, and then make your way to the Barbados Wildlife Reserve. Get up close to animals like mischievous Barbados green monkeys, alligator-like caiman, pink flamingos, and armadillos.

Meander the landscaped grounds of St. Nicholas Abbey—built in 1658, the present-day rum distillery is one of the only genuine Jacobean Mansions in the western hemisphere. Step inside to admire the architecture and historical furnishings, and listen to captivating tales of the duels, passion, and intrigue that riddle the plantation home's storied past.

From the top of nearby Cherry Tree Hill, take in sweeping views of the coastline before winding your way down through sugar cane fields to the Morgan Lewis Windmill. Visit the mill's exhibits on the sugar cane industry and check out some of the equipment used to produce sugar before your tour comes to a close.
