This half-day tour of Athens offers a look at 2,500 years of history. Visit the new Acropolis Museum to see priceless ancient exhibits and enjoy a sightseeing ride through downtown Athens.

Your tour starts with a short drive through Athens and a visit to the new Acropolis Museum, housing some of the most precious treasures of the ancient world such as sculptures from the temple of Athena Pronias of the Acropolis and marble pieces of the Parthenon made by the famous sculptor, Phidias.

The main building of the modern museum, envisioned by Swiss American architect Bernard Tschumi, combines glass, concrete, and steel. Looking through the glass floor, gaze at ancient ruins that came to light after the excavation during the building's construction. Admire a vast number of ancient works of art and artifacts of daily life from 2,500 years ago.

At the Archaic exhibition, see marble statues and artifacts without glass cases. Then marvel at the original Parthenon Marbles—sculptures once part of the Parthenon—that were not moved to the British Museum. Next, drive through Athens to view the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Hadrian’s Arch from the second century AD which divided the Greek city from Hadrian’s new Roman city.

Your guide leads you to Syntagma Square, where you encounter the Greek Parliament, a former Royal Palace. In front of the Parliament the Monument of the Unknown Soldier proudly stands and is guarded non-stop by 2 soldiers standing still. As your tour continues, drive by the neoclassical buildings of the University, the Academy, and the Library before you arrive at the Stadium.
