Description:

Enjoy an easy-paced hiking tour as you climb the hills of Filopappou and Areopagus. On the way to the top, listen to stories from ancient Greek mythology and admire remarkable sites like the Philopappos Monument and the Royal Palace. From the summit, you're rewarded with majestic views of the city.

Meet your guide at the Acropolis metro station and begin your walk toward the Hill of Pnyx, which dates back to 507 BC, and was used as a gathering place by Athenians. On your way, pass by the National Observatory of Athens. Founded in 1842, this is the oldest research foundation in the country.

As your guide brings centuries-old Greek history to life, move in the direction of Filopappou Hill, also known as the Hill of the Muses. Admire the imposing Philopappos Monument and see the place where the Venetian shell that destroyed the roof of the Parthenon was fired.

Climb to Areopagus, also known as Mars Hill, which was used as a meeting place for the city's council of elders in the 5th century. Get your camera ready for amazing photo opportunities over the imposing Acropolis of Athens and the sprawling cityscape below.
