In Māori mythology, Tiki was the first man – rather like Adam for the Abrahamic religions. Tiki created Marikoriko, the Māori first woman. Tiki and Marikiriko (sometimes called Hine-ahu-one) are revered throughout Polynesia. Any traveler worth their salt will be familiar with the intricate and beautiful wooden carvings of these figures found all over the South Pacific.

According to legend, an argument erupted between two local chiefs. A fight ensued with one crying out the battle cry “lau toka” – “spear hit” – as he victoriously killed the other. Or, in modern vernacular, “bull’s-eye”!

This Tiki-style drink uses the classic combination of coffee & pineapple as its base. The rich and complex flavors of Bacardi 8-year-old rum add tropical fruits and winter spice while Angostura bitters unites & binds all of the flavors together. The addition of Mr Black Cold Press Coffee Liqueur infuses beans from Brazil, Ethiopia and Papua New Guinea with Australian wheat-based vodka, to create a cocktail that is big, bold and intensely flavored.

You don’t need to be bloodthirsty – just thirsty – to enjoy this tropical pick-me-up that packs a punch!
